Balancer Upgrade (Doohickie)

Torsion Spring
Eagle Manufacturing

Use as an upgrade to the balancer lock kit (doohicky). Eliminates the need for the conventional style springs. Adjustments are much more precise and safer. Precise because steady even pressure is applied during balancer adjustments extending the life and wear of the chain guides. Safer because the new torsion spring eliminates the possibility of any broken spring or balancer lock parts from entering the engine and allows you to make adjustments while the bike is at any angle. If you are about to replace your balancer lock, consider using the torsion spring. If you have already installed a new lock, you can still upgrade by installing the torsion spring.

KLR Oil Filler Plug

Filler plug fits all years KLR. Aluminum filler plug, made by Eagle Mfg. Co. is pewter color to match the case color of the KLR engine. Do not confuse this high-tech plug with the silver Taiwan filler plug that does not have the proper thread pitch and can stick or damage your engine case. This quality plug is easy in and easy out using a 6mm allen wrench.

KLR Hotcam Kit

Kit includes intake and exhaust cams. Strong midrange pull and top end speed increase. None to very little idle change. Both cams have 9.11mm lift and 235.75 duration. Uses stock valves and springs. Airbox modification is required for better airflow. Performance exhaust not required but recommended for maximum performance. The only way anyone will know you are packing a few more horses is by your increased speed and sneaky grin. Fits 96-up including current models.

Heavy Duty Fan

Heavy duty aluminum fan is a great replacement for a broken plastic fan or for bikes that spend extended time in traffic, desert, or hard off-roading where cool air flow may be reduced. Addresses the cooling issues commonly found on the 08 and later models. Simply slip old fan off shaft and install new aluminum fan. Easy installation. Does not fit 07 and earlier.

Time To Adjust Your Valves?

Most KLR's have enough miles on them to adjust the valves. Our 29MM valve pucks will give you the precise measurement you need. Pucks come in a large selection to make your adjustment correctly. Proper valve clearance on a cool engine should be intake 0.10-0.20mm, exhaust 0.15-0.25mm.

Refer to page 68 and 77 of your Clymer Service Manual for valve adjustment instructions.

DID YOU KNOW

The classic Harley-Davidson engines are two-cylinder, V-twin engines with the pistons mounted in a 45° "V". The crankshaft has a single pin, and both pistons are connected to this pin through their connecting rods.

This 45° angle is covered under several United States patents and is an engineering tradeoff that allows a large, high-torque engine in a relatively small space. It causes the cylinders to fire at uneven intervals and produces the choppy "potato-potato" sound so strongly linked to the Harley-Davidson brand.

To simplify the engine and reduce costs, the V-twin ignition was designed to operate with a single set of points and no distributor. This is known as a dual fire ignition system, causing both spark plugs to fire regardless of which cylinder was on its compression stroke, with the other spark plug firing on its cylinder's exhaust stroke, effectively "wasting a spark". The exhaust note is basically a throaty growling sound with some popping. The 45° design of the engine thus creates a plug firing sequencing as such: The first cylinder fires, the second (rear) cylinder fires 315° later, then there is a 405° gap until the first cylinder fires again, giving the engine its unique sound
